New Insight into Breast Cancer Cells Involving Drug Combinations for Dopamine and Serotonin Receptors

The breast cancer therapies available are insufficient, especially since first-line treatments, such as paclitaxel, result in drug resistance and their toxicity often limits concentration. Strategies like repurposing beneficial, novel treatments can emerge by drugs that interfere with the dopamine serotonin receptors, thus influence tumor growth. In this study, MTT assay was used to test efficacy of repurposed commonly for neurodegenerative disorders act on receptors reduce MCF-7 cell’s viability, either single use or combination reference paclitaxel. Furthermore, expression vimentin E-cadherin assayed immunofluorescence. receptor-altering benztropine thioridazine resulted strongest reduction cell viability when combined which may be connected alteration rather than expression. More studies needed understand mechanism action combinations tested efficacious role serotonin.
